Reflection: Checks for Understanding Characteristics of Life Wrap-up - Section 4: Clean-up

 

It was really easy for me to decide to "clean- up" the learning on viruses because when I did my formative check in the essential question section of the lesson, most of the students were NOT able to give evidence that viruses might not be alive.  The evidence that they gave was weak and showed misconceptions.  This was an immediate indicator that they would NOT be able to show understanding so it was time to go back and re-teach.
