Reflection: Checks for Understanding Characteristics of Life Part 2 - Section 6: Independent Practice


From looking at their work, it was REALLY clear who had grasped these basic characteristics of life really well and who didn't.  The students in the middle show a low level of understanding and did not give examples.  This is indicating two possible problems.  First, they might actually not understand the content.  Our next lesson is going deeper into these characteristics, so students will have another chance for learning.  Second, they might not understand how to write an answer or might not realize that they need to write a full explanation.  In that case, more learning about the concepts won't help.  I think I'm going to display some of these answers on Thursday during "clean-up" time and give students a chance to revise their work.
