Reflection: Discourse and Questioning Geometry Line Vocabulary - Section 4: Continuing to Practice

 

Vocabulary is a very important part of learning new things.  The vocabulary of math helps people talk to one another about a common subject.  Just think about having your students look up their spelling words and write definitions.  I know I always have to be explicit to make sure they come up with the correct meanings.  We also have a big push on "Academic Target Talk."  Teaching vocabulary gives students the words the need to say on target with their talk.
