Reflection: Checks for Understanding Characteristics of Life Part 1 - Section 5: Vocabulary Introduction

I have been really pleased with how quickly the students got used to our vocabulary protocol, but I wanted to check and make sure that the thinking was still there, that it hadn't become rote.  The students are supposed to use the phrase, "This makes me think..." after describing their aspect of the term.  As I was listening to one group talk about organization (as in levels of organization) I heard one girl say, "This makes me think about a filing cabinet with different sizes of files and papers inside of it." I loved seeing the kids truly and organically develop their own understanding of these words together.  This video is of a group doing the practice for the word "respond".
