Reflection: Real World Applications Tools not Toys!!! - Section 2: Explore


Teaching the children the importance between objects that will become tools and those that are toys will be directly related to the Cross Cutting Concept of Engineering, Technology, and Applications in Science.  It is important for students to understand that tools are designed for specific reasons in science. They have been created with a purpose to help in conducting and investigation that will allow scientists to better find an answer to their question.    

Consequently, it also addresses a Common Core Math Standard as well.  Becoming familiar with math tools and their purposes will incorporate MP.5: using appropriate tools strategically.
