Reflection: Writing Across the Disciplines Decomposing Rectangles to Find Area - Section 3: Guided Practice


In order to integrate technology into this this lesson, I could have used this interactive geoboard. Students could have first constructed each room and then decomposed the room into smaller rectangles using rubber bands. This would have not only saved paper, but would have been a high-interest way of teaching this lesson!

Big Idea: Students will practice decomposing rooms into smaller rectangles in order to determine the area of the room.
