Reflection: Shared Expectations What Does Respect Look Like? - Section 3: Modeling

By 4th grade, students have heard the word "respect" multiple times. They may even no a little bit about what it means. They seem to certainly know that it is expected. Unfortunately, they may not know exactly how to show it or realize that what they do know about how to treat one another is showing respect.

Its important to have this conversation first thing so that every student has a common understanding and language around what is expected in the classroom. They can hold each otehr accountable because they will hear from each other and the teacher that respectful behavior is expected and will be acknowledged.
