Reflection: High Quality Task Supporting Details Needed - Section 1: Why this Lesson?


In order to create a culture of high expectations and to push our students rigorously, it is important that we teach them to justify their choices and ideas.  Through writing, when students list supporting details, they are justifying the reason why they chose their main ideas (or, as I call them, supporting ideas) that hold up the topic sentence.
