Reflection: Rigor Translations 2 - Section 2: Play of the Day

Even though we are in a unit on geometry, we cannot let go of other parts of math, like algebra.  This is one of the reasons I love this lesson - it is a geometry lesson with almost no pictures. :)  This pushes kids to understand the connections between geometry and algebra and keeps abstract representation fresh in their minds, even as they go deeper on translations.

It is a good guiding principle to ensure that all of your units do not solely hit on the standards on their own, but also explore the inter-connections between them.
