Reflection: Student Ownership What Makes 10? (With Recording Sheet) - Section 6: Closure

I asked my kids how they would improve this lesson. If you look at the sample completed recording sheet(s), you will see where the kids tried to record the number sentence on the sheet without guidance. A student shared that she got frustrated with trying to remember how to write it correctly, and she wanted a "fill in the blank" number sentence to record on. If you look at the recording sheet provided for you in the Independent Practice section, you'll see that I did add the component the student requested. In this way, I validated the students' concerns and I provided an opportunity for ownership for the kids in the class. This makes the students working partners and active participants rather than idle spectators.
