Reflection: Student Grouping Trip to the Nation's Capital - Section 4: Closure

 

I LOVED the way the kids were grouped for this activity!  Due to the location factor, their was no argument whatsoever.  No one tried to angle it so they could be with their friends, no one tried to make their location fit into another for the sake of changing groups, etc.  It was just pleasant.  The exception was the Ford's Theater kids who were put into three groups due to numbers, which I did by picking sticks, and that was ok, too. 

Truth be told, I don't have difficulty with this class, as far as the kids they work with, but that isn't always the case, and this was a nice way to go about it.  I think what made this cool was the fact that using similar topics made grouping natural.  Some kids were in pairs, the Eclectic group had five, and all the others were in between.  It worked well.  I'll look for similar opportunities in the future.
