## Reflection: Adjustments to Practice Sharing Equations (Day 1) - Section 1: Launch

Since it is quite possible that up to this point, students have understood the word "solution" as one single number, the solution as being a coordinate (x, y), may not be conceptually grasped so easily. After all, students have, since early elementary grades, only seen expressions like "a number plus 5 = 10, find the number", and the answer is "one" number. For this reason, it may be useful to include in this lesson on finding solutions of a system by graphing, examples of systems with no solutions, and infinite number of solutions. This topic is covered in the lesson, "Systems and Parallel Lines" that appears later in the unit.

Including visual examples here may help create an intuitive feel for the concept of a system of linear equations right from the start. The examples should help students see and understand the 3 possible scenarios (graphs) for the solutions to systems.
