Reflection: Adjustments to Practice Narrative Poetry Day Three: Drafting Your Narrative Poem - Section 3: Draft Away!


While my students were drafting their narrative poems, I noticed a common problem happening among many of the students.  They had a hard time designating "lines" in their poems.  Some had lines that were very long, and went onto the next line on the notebook paper, and some were very short, only a couple of words.  I did stop the class and show them that each line should fit on a notebook paper line, but in the end, I created a separate rough draft paper.  In reflection, I'm hoping this paper is more of clear visual definition of the structure of lines in poetry for the students.
