Reflection: Gradual Release Magic Tree House Ancient Greece Dynamic Duo: Day 3 - Section 6: Assessment Day!

Today, when I walked around the classroom while students were working, I was more of a proctor, than a teacher.  I was assessing to see where my students were at with reading, comprehending, writing main idea statements, supporting detail quotes, and summaries of chapters.  It is hard to step back and let the students try on their own, but unless I give them this opportunity, I won't be able to tell what they can do on their own.  I'll use the information I gather today to adjust my instruction for the whole class, or small groups tomorrow.
