Reflection: Modeling Counting Back - Section 3: Independent Practice

 

Counting back can be a difficult strategy for many students to grasp.  This is a strategy that must be modeled for students.  A method for getting students to understand the concept is to have children point to the starting number as they whisper it. Then have them count back by saying the count back numbers aloud.
