Reflection: Adjustments to Practice My Opinion: Publish and Share - Section 5: Sharing our Opinions

I made the tags using a business card format so that they were easily read from a distance. You can print them on labels so that they stick to students’ shirts or print them on paper and cut them out for students to carry. I originally planned to make them cute with Titanic-related clip art, but then realized that students would wear them for thirty minutes and then throw them away! However, feel free to adjust to whatever you like!

Depending on how many students you have in each opinion group, you may have to adjust the sharing idea. In one of my classes, I had eight students choose “I Survived,” seven who chose “The Ship,” four for “The Disaster,” four in “The Discovery” group, and only one who chose “The Places.” So while everyone had plenty of partners to choose from during the first round, options grew slim as time went on. At one point, I had to put students in groups of three or four with one opinion having more than one representative. This might take some flexibility; adjust to serve your students best!
