Reflection: Complex Tasks My Opinion: Paragraph Two - Section 2: Setting a Purpose

During our work with opinion writing, we have followed a very specific format. While this writing piece follows closely our format, students are challenged to extend their thinking a bit. In other practices, students are required only to have one piece of evidence to support each reason whereas in this piece they must find two. Yes, this is a challenge, however it is not so much a stretch that they shouldn’t be able to manage the transition. Not only will it demonstrate students’ abilities to support their opinions, but also it will reveal how well students completed their research during the unit.
