Reflection: Student Ownership Beyond "Words, Words, Words": Transforming the Traditional Research Paper into a Multigenre Project - Section 3: Shapeshifting Genres: From Traditional Papers to Multigenre Projects

Last year I assigned the traditional research paper mandated by my district. It was a painful ordeal, so 1950s. If we really want to empower students with 21st Century learning opportunities, we need to give them the freedom to voice ideas in ways we don't always understand.

Visual rhetoric has been a recognized form of argument for a while now. What is a multigenre project if not visual rhetoric?

The multigenre project gives students the opportunity to own their learning, to demonstrate their creativity, to problem solve, and to become college and career ready. It's so CCSS appropriate.
