Reflection: Developing a Conceptual Understanding Publishing Your Final Product - Section 2: Guided Practice

I wanted students to make a connection to text features in writing. We have talked about and discussed text features during reading how we use it to help understand what we are reading. In this unit and particularly this lesson, I wanted students to switch roles from reader to writer. I wanted students to think like a writer and try to determine how writers think about the features they include to enhance their writing. This activity made students think about this and showed if they really grasped the purpose of text features and how to use them in both reading and writing.
