## Reflection: Intervention and Extension Making Waves... with pasta! (Day 1 of 2) - Section 2: Building the Sine and Cosine Curves

When copying the radian measurements from the paper strip, some of my students thought they could just mark equal intervals and not actually use the strip. This error made for a good discussion about the fact that the intervals between pi/6, pi/4, and pi/3 are not equal. My students still continue to grapple with truly understanding radian measurement. So if they seemed confused I would take it back to degree angle measures for them. “Is there equal spacing in the intervals 0-30 degrees, 30-45 degrees, 45-60 degrees, and 60-90 degrees?” This helped students to identify where the intervals would be equal and why some intervals were not. I also think it helped them to really see that we were marking angle measurements on the x-axis which in turn helped them to better understand problem 2 in the Student Handout - making waves.
