Reflection: Modeling Book Groups: Flash Fingers - Section 3: Today's Focus

To be honest, this is not my favorite job. I’ve included it to reach those students who are visual or artistic learners. It tends to be the most popular of the jobs because students see it as a chance to simply draw and doesn’t require any “real work.” They’re often surprised at the work actually required in order to show a complete picture of the big idea. I’ve found that in order to be most successful with this job, they need it modeled for them. Usually I show them an example of how to complete this job using a selection of the text we’ve already read. This gives students the chance to see exactly what is expected without doing the work for them.
