Reflection: Adjustments to Practice Analyzing and Using Figurative Language in Poetry - Section 1: Lesson Opener

 

The reading of Heritage and the explanation of it took longer that I initially planned. If you teach this, my idea is to teach with half of Heritage and then have the students complete an active engagement with the rest of the poem. Another idea is to teach with just Annabelle Lee  (half teach/half engagement) for a shorter lesson.
