Reflection: Debate Evaluating Argument - Review Week Day 3 - Section 2: Independent Work/Wrap Up

I am constantly thinking about my student's interest and needs when selecting material.  I believe a good teacher knows her students and uses that knowledge to enhance the classroom experience.  It is unfortunate when classroom materials are selected solely because the teacher or some outside source prefers them.

When selecting material for this lesson, I took into consideration that my students would get into this topic, but more than that they loved the debate piece (similar to this one in setup) from scholastic back in the winter. So, I saw this as an opportunity to once again bring a timely "debate" -to the table.

Additionally, the Tracing and Evaluating Argument Kit is something I needed to support my students as they work this assignment independently and evaluate both sides of the debate.
