Reflection: Intrinsic Motivation As Seen on TV: Finishing Up - Section 2: Wrapping Up and Next Steps

Do you ever get those kiddos who spend way too much time trying to overthink a task??  On this task, that's what happened to some of my overachievers.  I really intended the students to read through the reviews and complete their research and analysis in one sitting.  Many students were able to do that, but my overachievers were unable to just skim through all of the opinions.  They were getting stuck on tiny details and were trying to process it all.

This was a classic case of what I had envisioned for the students didn't mesh with what some of them were thinking.  Luckily most of those kiddos had computers at home and I knew they would get it done at home, but I could have made my life and theirs easier by modeling for them how to skim through all of those reviews.  Some products had hundreds!!  I wasn't clear enough that they didn't need to read them all!!  Lesson learned- clear directions!!
