Reflection: Student Ownership Mentor Text: Ellipsis - Section 3: Sharing Out

Students struggled through the planning process at first.  But, once I modeled how to brainstorm ideas and categorize them,  they began to narrow down their topic.  One student wanted to write about her baby brother.  However, she did not know what event in his life to focus on.  So, we discussed milestones in a person's life.  One milestone is learning to stand and another is learning to walk.  Thus, we narrowed the topic to learning to walk.  The student's writing sample showed effective use of ellipsis on this topic.
