Reflection: Intervention and Extension What was King George III's opinion? - Section 2: Teaching Strategy

This text was very TOUGH for scholars!  In order to better help them digest what the author was saying, the second time we read, I asked them what the beginning/middle/end was all about.  For example, we read the beginning and I paused and asked, "What is King George III trying to tell us?  What is he communicating?"  Then, we wrote down (in the margins) what we thought.  In the beginning he was trying to show us that the Rebels were bad.  In the middle, he was saying that he was going to use military force against the Rebels, and at the end, he said that he would punish traitors.  This helped scholars to better understand the text, pull out the main points and then explain how King George III supported those main points.
