Reflection: Pacing Putting Our Skills to the Test: Preparing For A Civil Trial - Section 2: Preparing for A Court Trial

I broke this lesson down over 4 days instead of doing it in one extended lesson and I couldn't be happier. Last year, I had the kids read the case file information as we went through the simulation, but this year I printed out the information and had the students do a close read to prepare for the simulation tomorrow. The kids got to put their reading skills to good use by thinking about evidence and perspectives to help get them ready to go through the case. I really think the simulation is going to go so much better this time. In the past, I've gotten frustrated because of time crunches. I think I felt better about lengthening the experience because this hit so many Common Core standards and the students were truly applying all of those skills. They enjoyed all of the parts of this as well.
