Reflection: Lesson Planning Conductors of the Underground Railroad - Section 1: Creating the Purpose

In this video I discuss this book choice and how I use it and their guided reading journals to teach these concepts in greater depth. I try to add a variety of texts subjects and types of reading materials to their biographical studies. This reviews why Escape to Freedom is a good choice for a shorter class lesson. We used the book for other following lessons in our history unit.  This is a highly recommended series because of student interest, variety of information offered and complexity of text.
