Reflection: Grappling with Complexity Adding It Up - Section 3: Playing the Game

 

One student would not count on and would go back and count all each time.  I worked with her and reminded her of the work that we have down with counting on.  Some students had a hard time writing the number (previous total) from their previous turn.  It was more with understanding how to use the recording sheet rather than the concept of adding a new number to a previous total.

Unit 14: Counting by Groups

Objective: SWBAT count and keep track of amounts up to 60. SWBAT count on from a known quantity.

Big Idea: Roll up your sleeves and roll the dice. Your students will hone their counting on skills as they keep a cumulative count of the sum of ten rolls of the dice.
