Reflection: Essay Writing Outlining For Success - Section 2: MME Essay Outline

I love outlines for their value in helping students organize ideas and ensure they have thorough arguments, but there is a secondary benefit, too: saved time.

Assessing and offering feedback on claim, evidence, and details without having to wade through explanation or not-yet-concise student writing saves a great deal of time for me as assessor and for students. They are able to correct significant flaws in their work before they begin drafting and, perhaps, avoid rewriting after final assessment.

Any English teacher knows the pain of the time crunch--too many papers, not enough time. Why not save yourself some hours and use an outline as part of every writing assignment?
