## Reflection: Routines and Procedures Show me the Money! - Section 1: Objective & Hook

If the thought of managing 300 pretend coins for your class is giving you heart palpitations, no more worries! In this lesson and throughout the entire unit, I use coin bags. I created mixed bags of quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies at the beginning of the unit and I am using it throughout the unit - even if we aren't working on some of the coins that are in the bags, I still give them a bag of all of the coins.

This specifically helps students practice coin identification throughout the unit. If students aren't using quarters in the lesson, they still have to practice choosing the correct coins for the task.

At the end of the lesson, students reassemble their coin bags and put them in the bin. We will use them again tomorrow!

The coin bags also help keep me from going gray! Every little routine helps.
