Reflection: Real World Applications What Can We Do To Help? - Section 1: Creating the Purpose


This lesson was added as a second thought after students gave such great responses to the "How can we help immigrants?" question. I wanted to give them an opportunity to share their ideas in a creative way and at the same time address a Common Core claim of being able to write an informational or persuasive piece about a topic. Unit 8: Emigrants - Immigrants - Refugees...all are welcome here!
Lesson 4 of 5

Objective: SWBAT...create a welcome brochure that introduces our country, state or city and gives important guidelines to a new visitor as to how to adapt to our culture, language and rules.

Big Idea: We were all immigrants at one time so it is our responsibility to help others. Our great ideas can make someone else happier to be a part of our community.
