Reflection: Student Ownership Cast Your Vote: Polishing Up Our Opinions - Section 1: Enroll Students Into Learning

I love to choose students' papers as "exemplars" to read before the class! I won't use students' names, saying anything like "This is (a student's name)'s paper!"  Instead, I just say I have some great work I want to share today, and then begin reading!  You should see the excited and proud look on this student's face when they realize I'm reading THEIR work!  I try to do this with each student at some point throughout the year, and more so with students who need the additional confidence boost in certain subject areas!  It's so cool to see students realize that I think their work is really something special, and I can see them thinking, "She read my paper!"
