Reflection: Lesson Planning Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - Section 2: Activity

 

The reason I do not wish for the students to work on the reverse side activity is because they would rush through the assignment and I do not want them to. I want the students to take the time to recall the items in the correct order, draw each item neatly and label it correctly. 

When I am lesson planning I know the amount of time at each station is limited. I allow for this when I decide how detailed I want the work to be. 15 minutes is not a great amount of time, but I know it is enough time if the student stays on task and focused - especially at this time of the year.

Later in the day we review the story by discussing what Joseph made at the end of the story which completes the top portion of the recording sheet. Now we have more time to have a more in depth discussion about how we think Grandpa and Joseph are saving the planet which ties in with other Earth Day activities.
