Reflection: Connection to Prior Knowledge Determine The Graph of a Proportional Relationship - Section 1: Introduction

I was very pleased to see that all but a few students were able to accurately graph points in all four quadrants and identify the origin.  Very few were able to label the quadrants but that was an easy correct to make.  When labeling the origin, I noticed that some students were not familiar with roman numerals.  One called quadrant 2, "eye eye".  I guess it's okay to label quadrants with arabic numerals but the convention is to use roman numerals.  I guess they now will know numerals 1-4 in roman numerals.

I have a box of transparencies left over from when we still used overhead projectors at my school.  I made a few copies of the plotted points so that students could quickly check their own work by overlaying the transparency on top of their work.
