Reflection: Standardized Tests (PARCC/Smarter Balanced) Presidential Prose: Comparing and Contrasting Two President-Themed Texts - Section 5: Review

The more I'm able to read about and learn about the PARCC assessment (since I'm in a PARCC state), it appears as though paired texts will be a large component of the approach to the texts selected on this assessment.  I think trying to provide students with exposure to what they'll encounter only helps relieve test stress for students.  The more they seem familiar with what they're presented with, the more comfortable they'll be in these standardized testing environments.  Whenever I can, I try to offer practice for my students that will simulate these components, such as paired texts.  This is a lesson in which paired texts works well!
