Reflection: Developing a Conceptual Understanding Text Structures: Sequence - Section 2: Mini-Lesson


Graphic organizers are a great way to organize and represent information for Text Structures. With Sequence, a bulleted or numbered list works best because students can think about the steps of a “how to” in order or they can see how something happened in chronological order. This Text Structure may not be as common in the students’ books so you may need to tell students that if they can’t find an example, they can come up with their own example for their sticky note. This is where they can call on their own experiences and expertise to show the Sequence of something. Throughout this unit, I will draw on their background knowledge and schema to help deepen their understanding of each Text Structure.
