Reflection: Station Rotation Arctic Vs. Antarctic - Section 2: Activity

Having two stations where the students are essentially doing the same tasks allows more of my students to feel successful. The higher performing students get the challenge they need by being allowed to just use the texts themselves if they want too. The lower performing students can feel less overwhelmed when they are sorting item pictures (which also helps meet my visual students needs). When the lower performing students reach the station with the Venn diagram they are able to go back over to the SMARTBoard area and review the whole group lesson and take down the details they want to record.

I also make sure to have my groups made up of mixed abilities so that peer support and review can take place. Some students feel less stress when they ask a peer for assistance versus asking an adult for assistance.
