Reflection: Accountability Where Would You Go? - Section 2: Activity

The hardest part about this assignment for the students is explaining why they would go to a particular planet. So many of them want to say, "Because I like it." What I really want them to do is focus on giving a fact which backs up their planet choice.

"What is great about this planet you have chose? Why do you think it would be a good one to visit?"

The students have to begin to understand they are accountable for the choices they make, even their opinions. They have to be able to back them up with a rationale explanation so people will have a clearer understanding of the stand they are taking. Be able to explain your opinion gives more emphasis to your point of view and earns you a little more respect for the choices you have made.
