Reflection: Flexibility Surface Area and Volume Centers -5 Days of Enrichment and/or Remediation - Section 1: Launch

As I have said before - we have had an abnormal amount of snow/ice days this year, coupled with multiple early releases and delays on account of the weather.  Not wanting to nix the idea of enrichment and remediation altogether, I had to get creative :)  At my school we have what is called a "focus time," which is a 45 minute block of time in the morning that all students (correction - those students not pulled for interventions) will rotate through.  My team rotates our groups on a weekly basis, thus, I used these centers during focus time.  Since the kids are grouped using data, it worked out the almost all students needing the small group reteaching were in the same group - I only had to make a few adjustments!

Surface Area and Volume Centers -5 Days of Enrichment and/or Remediation

Unit 8: Geometric Measurement
Lesson 18 of 18

Objective: Students will be able to apply surface area and volume to real world scenarios, rationalize whether problems involve surface area or volume and justify their reasoning and identify patterns and use those patterns to solve problems.

Big Idea: Students demonstrating proficiency with surface area and volume rotate through a variety of performance tasks, while other students get small group instruction and a retest.
