Reflection: Conferencing Character Analysis: Examining familial conflict in Antigone Scene 2 and 3 (1 of 2) - Section 3: Closure

 

When I have an opportunity to conference with students, it is pure magic.  While it is important for students to often write to express their thinking, it is equally important for students to be able to communicate their thinking orally.  Today, the conferencing went great.  Putting students into groups of four was a great plan.  When I asked the group to answer the reading prompt, I then asked follow up questions based on those answers.  In this group conferring video, the student to my left demonstrates the advantage of conferring in groups.  He is often shy and doesn't often answer questions, however because his group members got the ball rolling, he was able to contribute great evidence to support his groups' answer.
