Reflection: Intrinsic Motivation Mars One Close Read - Opinion Writing - Section 4: Creating an Opinion Paper

As the students were completing their essays, I noticed we were short on time today. We had a guest speaker come in and teach the students a music lesson which cut into some of our reading time. As the students were writing, I am informed them that we were going to have to work through our recess to it today. I don't usually like to do that because the students need a break, but today we had so much to do that we really needed to work through the break. I was preparing myself for the inevitable, "NOOO!"  To my complete surprise, all I heard was, "That's okay.  This is more fun!"  It is AMAZING what a high interest topic will do for student learning and motivation for learning!

No recess? That's okay. This is more fun!
