Reflection: Student Ownership Miss Maggie Day 1 - Section 2: First Reading


    As students grapple with complex text such as Miss Maggie, there are sections that students may get confused about.  Discussing Student Reflecitons from the first and second readings clarify misconceptions early.  During our second reading, a student really believed that Miss Maggie had a pet snake that died.  He did not understand that the pet snake was in Ned's mind.  Miss Maggie really had a pet bird that died.  So, discussing the confusing parts of literature help to clarify its meaning.
