Reflection: Grappling with Complexity Jack and the Beanstalk Day 1 - Section 2: First Reading

The Student Note Taking Process indicated that students were asking higher level questions using the higher order Bloom's question stems i distributed. Asking and answering higher order questions gets students to grapple with text complexity. As i listened to student discussions, the feedback I received indicated that they are challenged with the deeper meaning of the text.  Using the post its to mark the page source was a tangible way to drive the point about text supports into the lesson.  Students even placed the notes next to the paragraph correlating with their notes.
