Reflection: Discourse and Questioning The Girl and the Chenoo Day 2 - Section 2: Introduction to Shared Inquiry Discussion


    The process for shared inquiry is enhanced by the Shared Inquiry Rubric and flipchart.  Both of these presentations thoroughly explain to students the expectations in behavior during the Shared Inquiry discussions.  Student  rubric indicate that students understood their goals because it was presented on the flipchart and measured by the rubric.  Goals and scales/ rubrics work effectively together.

Objective: SWBAT participate in collaborative conversations by linking comments to others' remarks, elaborating on topics, and clarifying text under discussion.

Big Idea: How do shared inquiry discussions deepen knowledge ? Students participate in Shared Inquiry discussions revolving around an interpretive question in order to deepen knowledge of text by discussing multiple perspectives.
