Objective: Students will be able to explain how the dynamics of food webs in an ecosystem are determined by limitations of energy transfer from one trophic level to another.

Big Idea: Organisms are composed of matter but require energy to function. Ecological feeding relationships can thus be understood as transfers of energy and recycling of matter.
