Lesson Objective
Students will examine properties of lines and angles in order to characterize plane figures.
Lesson Plan
Engagement ( Warm- Up) 1 min.:
Quick write: Draw a line
What is your definition of a line?
Exploration (Self- Guided) 10 min.: (Notes)
Line Segment: section on a line that has two end points.
Ray: has one end point and continues in one direction.
Angle: Point where two rays or line segments meet (measured in degrees).
Explanation (Independent) 10 minutes:
Students will use properties of lines, rays, and line segments to identify each.
See Lines and Rays Notes WkST
Ask questions for clarification.
Allow students to work on each problem independently and then check for understanding by going over each.
Elaboration (Classwork/ Homeowrk) 20 min.:
Homework/ Classowrk: Lines, Rays and Angles
Do a few problems with the students inclass, the rest of the sheet is homework.
Evaluation (Closing) 2min.:
Exit Ticket 2 min.:
How do you name an angle?
Allow two students to share their responses and poll the class to see which students agree with the answers. Collect and evaluate answers for reteaching if needed.
