Notes: · As we know from yesterday, circle graphs show different parts of a whole (100%). · When creating a circle graph, we should follow these steps: o Determine if the data is “suitable” for a circle graph. Is there a whole for the data?
o Calculate Percentages – determine what the whole is by adding all of the parts together. Then figure out the percents by dividing the part for each category by the whole.

o Draw the Graph – draw a circle and divide the circle into parts. Use a 100th disc to help you split the parts accurately
o Title and Label the Graph – give the graph and appropriate title and label each section with the name and percentage.

Guided Pracice
Mrs. Jones asked her 5th grade students how many siblings each student in her class has. The results are below in the table.
1. Is this data suitable for a circle graph? 2. Create percentages for the categories above
Studnets use given 100 disc to create a circle graph based on the information from above.
