Curriculum

  1. Working with Percents

  2. Solving 1 variable equations

In this unit, 7th graders learn how to isolate and solve for a variable using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, distribution, and combining like terms. Integer operations are reinforced throughout the unit.

  3. Probability

In this unit students work with simple and compound probabilities as well as using the fundamental counting principle, permutations, and combinations.

  4. Ratios and Proportions

In this unit students will work with rates and using proportions to solve a variety of problems

  5. Number Sense

In this unit, 7th grade students work with rational numbers as well as identify when numbers are irrational. Students also compute with exponents, work with the order of operations, and prime factorization.

  6. Geometry

In this unit, students will explore two and three dimensional shapes. They will work on concepts such as area, volume, surface area, and transformations.

  7. Linear Equations

In this unit students work with equations that have two variables. Graphing lines in standard and slope-intercept form as well as writing the equation of the line from various pieces of information are covered.

  8. Graphs and Statistics

This unit covers measures of central tendency and graphing. It includes bar graphs, histograms, stem-and-leaf plots, line plots, and line graphs.

  9. Computation

In this unit, students will review and master adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing with fractions and decimals.

  10. Solving Inequalties

In this unit, students solve and graph simple, compound, and absolute value inequalties. They also learn the real world applications for inequalities.

  11. Systems of Equations

In this unit students will learn to solve systems of equations using graphing, substitution, and elimination. They will learn how to use each method in the context of problem solving situations.
