Lesson Objective

SWBAT explain and apply all 7 laws of combining sentences.

Lesson Plan

Opening:

T: What do we have laws for in society?

S: Laws for driving, for protecting our property, for neglect.

 

T: Well, I’m here to tell you that the Grammar Gods have generated a new set of laws. 

S: What?!?

T: Yes, the 7 Laws of Combining Sentences.

 

Introduction to New Material:

Teacher goes through each law, using the handout.  Students highlight examples of the laws on the example handout.

         

Guided Practice:

          Teacher and student complete combining sentences practice.

 

Independent Practice:

Students complete a series of test prep, multiple choice questions on combining sentences.  They may use the laws as a resource, providing a

law # to justify each answer choice.
